Mamba time!

Test ride! The pedals work exactly as hoped. The cleat is as far back as possible on the shoe, putting the support from the pedal under the forward ball of the foot all the way back to the rear of the arch.

Success!

  1. As I understand your solution to nerve compression syndrome, you purchased the wide-platform based FUNN petals, and moved your biking shoe cleats as close to the arch as possible. Do that illuminate your pain issues, or Just lessen their intensity?

    1. It completely eliminated the pain issues for me. In addition to moving the shoe cleats as close to the arch as possible, I actually swapped the pedal platforms on the axles and reversed the pedal clips; that was easily done by removing the dust cover and retaining bolt on the pedals, as you would during pedal maintenance. This put the rear edge of the pedal an extra 1/2” (1 cm) further back on the sole of the shoe.
